One of the main goals of the Farm Lab is to provide a hands-on, vibrant academic learning space for our many pre-service teachers at our Orillia campus. The Farm Lab offers many unique opportunities for hands on learning including in-class visits to schools in our area, accompanied by one of our knowledgeable garden-based educators. B.Ed. volunteers can gain useful, practical hands on experience in classes while building professional relationships with fellow teachers in diverse schools across our region.
The Farm Lab runs hands-on science education programs with K-12 schools across Simcoe County (and even southern Muskoka and beyond, including virtual!). We are always looking for B.Ed. student volunteers to join in for these fun and rewarding opportunities. The best part is sharing in the joy and enthusiasm of the students in the gardens.
B.Ed. students are encouraged to volunteer by signing up here.
